INTERNSHIP - DEVELOPMENT OF TOOLS FOR LIFTING SYSTEM

Internship Suresnes
Posté il y a 1 jour

FLYING WHALES is an extraordinary industrial adventure.

We are developing an air transport solution to support the economic development of landlocked regions and significantly reduce the environmental footprint of cargo transport.

FLYING WHALES has formed a consortium to design, build on three continents and operate worldwide a fleet of LCA60T airships capable of loading and unloading up to 60 tons of cargo (wood, wind turbine blades, containers, mobile hospital, etc.) in hover flight, with a particularly low environmental footprint. This transport system is unique in the world. FLYING WHALES is also developing FLYING WHALES SERVICES, the operating company for this fleet, which will combine the skills of an airline and an airport company.

At FLYING WHALES, we have a highly ambitious vision that today brings together over 200 pioneers, a powerful international shareholder base and some 50 partner companies.Pioneers of the 21st century, men and women who contribute their desire, passion and know-how every day to give birth to a new transport solution, but also to an idea. The idea that companies must be able to continue creating links in order to grow.

This is FLYING WHALES’ mission: to open up isolated regions of the world, while helping to reduce CO2 emissions and transport infrastructure.

You want to help us write a page in the history of aeronautics and the economic development of isolated regions? Here’s the pioneer we’re looking for:

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Within the Physical Architecture Department, we are looking for an Intern to develop tools for our lifting system, for a duration of 6 month.

YOUR MISSIONS:

Within the Physical Architecture department, Equilibrium team is responsible for the development of aeronautical balance systems (lifting systems, ballast systems, payload systems, and associated tooling for payload transport) up to airship certification. Our activities encompass the specification, development, testing, and qualification of these systems as part of the airship certification process.

  • In order to improve the quality and performance of the Equilibrium team, the intern will have to develop internal tool around Helium physics and management in the airship (a helium state calculation tool based on a python type of code with proper documentation and configuration management that will be usable for all customers such as control laws team, manufacturing, maintenance, etc.).

  • This tool will be used to correlate/correct helium pressure data with temperature and air pressure, in order to be able to estimate loss of helium, helium quantity and provide maintenance forecasts. In addition, the tool will be used also to prepare mission by using weather forecasts to estimate Static Heaviness evolution.

  • Today, all these calculations are done by hand thanks to an excel reference sheets and require very strong knowledge in helium and airship behaviour to be used: ease of use and adaptability to the different internal customers is a strong design axis. As helium knowledge is still improving day after, the tool shall allow an easy update of the core equations/data.

YOUR EDUCATION & EXPERIENCES :

  • Education : last year of Engineering school

YOUR COMPETENCIES AND QUALITIES :

  • General physics knowledge (thermodynamics, gas physics),

  • coding basic principles (Python or equivalent)

  • Adaptative, team spirit

APPLICATION PROCESS :

  • A meeting with Thomas, Talent Acquisition Specialist,

  • A meeting with Sylvain, Equilibrium Expert.
